Dear God,
Please, let my children sleep. On this day, when we are getting a new AC unit installed right above their bedrooms, please let their ears be full of cotton... or lead... or whatever will block out all sound. Because they are tired, Lord. They will be even more tired at 6pm when it's too early to go to bed, too late to nap, and just the right time for dinner table melt downs. And Lord, this will go a long way in preserving my sanity, which you know is very fragile this time of day...
In Jesus' name,
Amen

12 Days of Cyrus: A Dozen Roses and a Six-Pack
This is a chronicle of my baby boy's first year of life. One post for every month. And this is the last one! You can get the rest of the story by starting here with yesterday's post.
Happy birthday little Man!
This day came too fast for my baby-loving mama heart. Birthdays are such a bittersweet (but obviously more sweet than anything) time. Celebration, excitement, cake... but time marches on and my little man grows steadily into a big man. We are surprised everyday by how deeply he loves, his cautious optimism, and fearlessness. But you came here to see the little man, so let's move forward shall we?
As I was packing up the house for a move, Cy's favorite activity became emptying boxes. Awesome to keep him busy, and awesome to slowly eat away at my sanity. Cy celebrated his first Christmas this month!! It would have been so exciting for him if he hadn't also been enduring his first real sickness. He was a sad little boy. But I reminded him that he has quite a few more Christmases to celebrate, so he'll know what it's really like next year. He met cousins and aunts and uncles and we were so excited to see faces even if Cy had to keep his droplet-precaution distance. But all of this just showed us again how laid back he is, as we carted him to Houston, across the city, and back all while feverish. We love this little boy so!
One whole year of chillin' with this dude makes us look forward to the many more to come!

12 Days of Cyrus: 11:11
This is a chronicle of my baby boy's first year of life. One post for every month. Have some time to spare? You can get the rest of the story here: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth months.
Time slow down! I just cant believe we are here, and I couldn't believe it then either. Cy flourished this month. Cruising, preferring to feed himself, so basically he became a man. He started making even cuter faces than before (if you can imagine) and trying to communicate (mostly through yelling). We celebrated Thanksgiving in Baton Rouge with our family, but I have no photo proof of that... He participated in his first Griffin Christmas by helping us pick out our tree and decorating our house. He was enamored with the lights on the tree. Probably tried to pull them down a hundred times. But at least he wasn't breaking ornaments all over the place, right?
I still can't believe this is happening...

12 Days of Cyrus: 10 x 10
This is a chronicle of my baby boy's first year of life. One post for every month. Missed some of the fun? Have an extra 15 minutes? Catch up here if you want: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth months.
Pumpkin patches, Halloween, picnics, voting... Fall is a wonderful time of year! Cy thoroughly enjoyed his first pumpkin patch, though his sister made the executive decision as to which pumpkin he took home. Cy didn't dress up for Halloween this year (second child syndrome) but he loved following his sister around playing games. As the weather cooled down, our outdoor eating picked up again. And Cy helped me vote in the last election. I say help because he tried to push a lot of buttons behind that curtain. I think he already loves being an American.
He also continued to love his sister more than anyone else...

It was a big month for our little guy. Cy attended his first, of what I'm sure will be many, LSU game. He handled like the fan that he is. As loud as it was, he just laughed when the crowd would go crazy or the band would play. Of course, nothing brought more joy to his father than to see this display of Tiger pride. Cy also started really crawling! I mean, watch your ankles because he'll ram you. And I remembered again how much I love this stage because your baby stops needing to be constantly held. And I remembered how much I loathe this stage because your baby stops need to be constantly held.
The most handsome little Tiger fan, I think.

Baby's first trip to the beach! He actually loved the ocean, but I can't say the same for the sand... It was a great little getaway for our family and a new time to learn what vacations look like as a family of four. But back to life, back to reality and the fall took off as we prepared for Harper to start school and life to pick up again. We had some quiet moments here and there though...

12 Days of Cyrus: Seven Years
This is a chronicle of my baby boy's first year of life. One post for every month. Missed some of the fun? You can catch up on the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth then check out this one.
This month brought Cy's first separation from his mama. Despite being a little hungry, he did great and I'm pretty sure I missed him more than he missed me. He also had his first taste! Years from now we will be able to look back and see exactly when Cy's love affair with food began. From the beginning, he's pretty much inhaled food, so like his father in that respect. As the hot summer wore on, he splashed in the pool and enjoyed the zoo with his cousins.
Love that cheese-face.
